Suresh Raina replaces Rayudu for England ODI Series: If you heard that Suresh Raina replaces Rayudu for England ODI Series, then you are correct and it has been announced on Saturday by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Under the All India Senior Selection Committee Ambati Rayudu was replaced with Suresh Raina in India’s ODI squad for the England series. The announcement came on Friday at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after Rayudu failed to clear his fitness test which was held there.
Rayudu was named for England ODI series after his an impressive IPL season for franchise Chennai Super Kings. As per the current rules, every player who has been named to play for India has to go through yo-yo test and it has been compulsion in terms of selection in the Indian team. England Tour will start on 3rd July 2018, India will play three T20 internationals, three ODI’s and five Test matches against team England.
Suresh Raina did not play any ODI for India from a long time and his last ODI appearance was against South Africa in October 2015. If we look at his stats, he has played 223 ODIs and scored 5568 runs under his belt and he was already selected for the current T20 international squad against England. He beat an in-form Rishabh Pant and many other players due to his vast experience.
In IPL 2018, Suresh Raina played for Chennai Super Kings and scored 445 runs at an average of 37. In the upcoming series, we can see him fighting for a spot in the middle order with KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, and Shreyas Iyer. Unfortunately, Rayudu scored 14 marks in the YoYo test while qualifying mark is 16.1 and it has become shock for everyone.
